The Scottish ministers for housing and community safety are to speak at Credit Today’s Credit Scotland conference in March.CREDIT SCOTLAND EXCLUSIVEAlex Neil, minister for housing and Fergus Ewing, minister for community safety, will be making keynote presentations at the event in Edinburgh on Thursday 4 March. Launched last year, Credit Scotland was attended by over 100 people and is expected to grow further in 2010 with the added attraction of a networking dinner following the conference.
The ministers will discuss the impact of the Home Owner and Debtor Protection Bill and Scotland’s changing consumer credit regime. It follows rapid planning and implementation of measures to help Scottish debtors with the effects of the credit crunch. However, creditor groups have expressed concern that the measures are too ‘debtor-friendly’ and could result in lender reluctance to do business north of the border.
Highlights from this year's programme include:
• Consumer protection reform: The Home Owner and Debtor Protection Bill
• The impact of court delays on the debt recovery process
• Profiling Debtors ahead of an interest rate spike
• Join in the Credit Today debate: Scotland's insolvency industry in the spotlight
• Debt recovery: Opportunities for partnership between the public and private sectorsCredit Scotland is the
only conference dedicated to addressing the Scottish credit industry in 2010.
