CCTA Delivers Real Value for Money
Membership of a group brings a greater strength to the whole than the sum of its individual parts. This is certainly true at CCTA where competitors work together for mutual benefit and CCTA supports its Members through a minefield of challenges, never more daunting than as 2009 unfolds.
Businesses can resemble isolated islands, cut off from their industry, viewing membership of a trade association as an unnecessary expense. This, says CCTA CEO Chris Oakes, is a short-sighted view. “Reputable and cost-effective associations, like CCTA, are an invaluable resource for information, guidance and support – especially in today’s challenging environment,” he stressed, “freeing up Members to concentrate on running their business.”
CCTA has the widest range of credit businesses in membership of any association in the UK and this probably applies in Europe too. Membership delivers tangible and intangible benefits and is confirmation of a commitment to responsibility, integrity and customer care.
CCTA’s main responsibility is to ensure that Members are fully represented to policy makers in the UK and Europe by always being at the heart of the decision-making processes and through energetic campaigning. CCTA is an increasingly active participant in the affairs of Eurofinas, its Brussels-based federation. This is vitally important as the focus is now firmly on the EC Directive on Consumer Credit, which must be implemented by 12 May 2010, and is yet another radical development in consumer credit law.
The Members of CCTA’s governing Council and supporting committees have considerable breadth of knowledge and depth of experience. They are ably supported by a small team which is highly respected for its in-depth legal and regulatory expertise, hands-on approach, professionalism and enthusiasm.
The CCTA Legal Advice Line is a unique and highly regarded advisory service manned by experts who provide invaluable guidance on a wide range of issues.
CCTA keeps the membership abreast of the latest developments shaping the industry through its regular publications and guidance and provides documentation and fully-compliant agreements for Members’ use. The recently enhanced Code of Practice adds value to Members’ business and is seen in a positive light – along with CCTA membership – as a sign of business credibility and responsibility.
CCTA’s well-established Annual Conference is an extremely popular fixture in the credit calendar, offering excellent business and social networking opportunities. Throughout the year, comprehensive training is delivered by industry experts, providing quality and cost-effective updates on the legal and regulatory environment.
Chris Oakes added: “CCTA does not believe in standing still. The grassroots strength comes from our close relationship with Members. Being a CCTA Member provides the opportunity to be part of this collective voice, reaping benefits that far outweigh the cost.”
